What is a Small Group?

Small Groups are extensions of Mountainview CRC. They help provide pastoral care, fellowship, accountability, friendship, and acceptance to new and old attendees of Mountainview. They are a great way to meet new people and to strengthen or begin your walk with Jesus. Small Groups break a large church down to a modest size where you can feel comfortable getting to know a few people at a time. You do not need to be a member of Mountainview to be part of a Small Group. All of our Small Groups operate on an open chair policy which means that they are open to people at any time.

What Happens in a Small Group?

Small Groups cover a variety of topics and formats and is dependent on what type of Small Group you join. The Small Groups that we currently have organized can fall into the following categories: Needs Based, Bible Study, Fellowship, and Task Oriented. Generally, each Small Group fits into more than one category.

Why Should I Get Involved in a Small Group?

Small Groups can fill a number of needs in our lives. They can connect us to our church, help us in times of spiritual or physical needs, be a place where friendships develop, hold us accountable for our actions, help us draw closer to God, answer questions when we are seeking, and be a time to fellowship with others. There is also a wonderful social life associated with Small Groups. Many of them have BBQs, Christmas parties, game nights, bowling, and celebrations for birthdays and other special events.

How Do I Get Involved in a Small Group?

You may become involved in Small Groups based on demographics, (ages or life stages of current members), study materials, or simply based on when and where they meet to suit your schedule. All of this information can be found on the Mountainview website or on the insert found in this brochure. If you are struggling to find a Small Group to which you can belong, please do not hesitate to contact our Small Group Coordinator. Small Groups Ministry Exists� To plan, coordinate and implement the small group ministry at Mountainview CRC. We will seek to encourage and enfold members in Small Group participation.
