LOCAL & DENOMINATIONAL NEWS

For those interested in catching up on “The Bridge Missional Community”, copies of “The Bridge Newsletter” are available at the Welcome Centre.

Nicaragua Update Since mid-April, nationwide violence and demonstrations in Nicaragua have caused many Resonate Global Mission and World Renew missionaries to temporarily leave the country. They ask you to please join them in praying for the home and people they love: for those struggling to provide basic needs like food and water and facing danger from increasing violence and lawlessness; for peace, resolution, and lasting change; for missionaries as they process unplanned travel and an unknown future for their ministry; and for the church of Nicaragua. Pray that they will shine the light of Jesus Christ during these dark times.

Reclaiming Protection: Citizens for Public Justice (CPJ) has released a report titled “Reclaiming Protection”, which calls on the Canadian Government to end the Canada-U.S. Safe Third Country Agreement (STCA). The report details how the STCA has restricted access to refugee protection and how your community can call for it to be rescinded. It is our hope that it will lead to greater justice for refugee claimants arriving from the U.S. Please read the report and prayerfully consider how you might partner with CPJ on this important issue.

Grimsby Benevolent Fund (GBF) -  The mission of GBF is to provide assistance to members of our local community to meet their basic needs and to achieve self sufficiency.  GBF is always in need of more volunteers.  Contact Marion Thorp Volunteer Services Manager @ volunteers@gbfgrimsby.com to see what opportunities there are for you to share your time and talents.

School satisfaction survey: Smithville Christian High School is seeking feedback. Our goal is to provide a Christian education that all our constituents – current and past parents, alumni, leaders, donors, and students themselves – agree is excellent. Current students and parents have already been invited to provide their feedback, but we are also asking members of our wider community for their perspective. If you are an alumnus, an alumni parent, or a supporter of Smithville Christian High School, your opinion matters to us. Please fill out our survey. It should take between 5 and 15 minutes and your feedback is extremely valuable. Here is a link to the survey: www.gwmin.com/survey but you will need a token to access it.
