Camper Support Policy (Large print available - see link at the bottom of the page) *
At Mountainview Kids Camp, inclusion and belonging matters. For Campers entering grades JK-6, we provide specific Camper Support with 1-1 and/or small group support for those who have medical, physical, social/emotional and mental health needs. Due to limited space and capacity, all Campers must be able to participate in a group setting; we are not able to offer an individualized program. Send an email to camp@mountainviewcrc.org to learn more & ensure your child will receive the support they need. Camper Support Policy: • Mountainview Kids Camp will provide 1-1 or small group support for those who are able to participate in group settings and move from one activity to the next. This support includes Campers who are non-speaking or require assistance with a mobility device (such as a wheelchair) to move from one activity to the next. Similarly, for children & youth who are incontinent, toileting needs can also be met if the Camp Director and team leaders deem it to be manageable with appropriate training & support from family. • Mountainview Kids Camp will accommodate campers who require short breaks from the group setting in a sensory or take-a-break room. This space is shared by the Campers who are receiving support that week; taking turns in this space is necessary. • Campers (and their families) who require EA support for specific needs are invited to our Spring Meet-and-Greet session. We want Mountainview Kids Camp to be a highlight for their summer, and this means understanding if our space, resources and staff will be a good fit with your Camper. We want to make their camp experience a success. These needs might include support with eating or toileting, support with mobility, or support with attention, sensory or behavioural challenges. • We realize there are times when Campers might have a difficult time adjusting or have a bad day. If a Camper receiving this support is unable to participate in the group setting with breaks, the family or primary contact will be notified immediately to pick up their Camper. The Camper will remain home for one full additional day. After that time of rest at home, we encourage the Camper to return. Yet, if the Camper is still unable to participate in the group setting with breaks, we will no longer be able to accommodate. The cost of the remaining camp session will be refunded. Unfortunately, we cannot offer an individualized program. • Campers who require medicine to help them attend school well, such as for attention or social-emotional challenges, must continue to take their medicine while attending camp. Equipping your Camper with their own supports such as medication will help make their time at Mountainview Kids Camp a success! If this medication needs to be administered during the camp day, check with the Camp Coordinator. • Following the Meet-and-Greet, we will determine if we can provide the care required and invite families to complete a Camper Support Registration form. Safety is a priority – for our team and for your Camper! • Mountainview Kids Camp can support a limited number of Campers with physical, medical, and social/emotional needs. We have a dedicated team of Camper Support workers available for each session, with our capacity being determined by our receipt of Canada Summer Jobs grant funding. • Campers requiring 1-1 or small group support may be able to participate for up for two weeks. The family should indicate in order of preference the weeks they are interested in participating on the Camper Support Form. If more spaces become available throughout the summer, the families will be notified, and they may sign up for an additional week. We will try to inform in a timely manner. • Know that our Camp team is comprised of high school & university students who have a heart for Campers, but our team is not professionally trained in complex care matters. Furthermore, Campers who inflict harm verbally or physically upon other campers or staff will be asked to leave our program immediately. Our Camp team is not professionally trained in behavioural support or risk management. • The Camp Coordinator will contact each family as needed to ensure that Mountainview Kids Camp can provide the best care for the child.
(in order of preference) There are a limited number of camper support spaces. We will try to accommodate your requests. Generally speaking

Thank you for completing the Interest in Camper Support form for your child for the 2025 camp season.

As soon as we receive our Canada Summer Jobs grant we will be able to determine the number of staff we can hire and the number of spaces we can offer. We will then host a meet & greet. You will receive an invitation from us via email. We look forward to meeting you then.
