Offering Prayers
Henk Heersink has had to return to hospital. We pray that Henk will feel God’s closeness during these health challenges. We pray for needed answers and treatments. We pray for good support and care. We pray for patience, strength and comfort for Henk and for those walking alongside him.
Henry Van Rooyen passed away on Thursday, October 1st in the early morning at 95 years of age. Our condolences and prayers are with his wife Connie and their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. Loss is never easy, regardless of age. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, October 3rd at Providence CRC at 11:00 am and it will be livestreamed on their website under the “Watch” tab (linked here). May the Van Rooyen family be surrounded and upheld by God’s peace that passes understanding and by the hope their faith brings. May God comfort all who mourn.
Nell Wielhouwer is in the last days of her earthly journey at Grandview Retirement Residence. We pray for Nell and her family. May they know God walks with them and may He grant them peace, strength, comfort and hope in the days ahead.
The mother of Jerry & Alice Gerritsen's daughter-in-law died suddenly on Thursday. Please pray for the family as they try to find their equilibrium while grieving and having to take care of all the things we need to do when there is a death.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Annie Boekestyn, Gert & Hinke Draaistra, Willy VanderHorst, Rita Klomps, Susan (Alida) Vander Vaart, Bertha Vermeer, and Klaas & Nellie Brobbel. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
The Bridge is doing amazing work in building relationships with local people who are unhoused, serving meals and participating in food recovery with community partners in the Niagara Falls area. We pray a blessing on Pastor Steve DeBoer and his work in Niagara Falls along with the many volunteers who are part of the work at The Bridge. May they continue to follow the Spirit’s leading as they walk with their neighbours and live their faith out in that way.
Lois Hanson welcomed her 8th great-grandchild last week on September 23rd…Harold James…after Bill (William Harold) a first baby for her grandson Blair and his wife Liz! We thank God for new life. We celebrate precious memories, heritage of faith, and family with Lois.
Socks for Seafarers – “Earlier this year Mission Circle members were able to enjoy a visit via a Zoom meeting with Patty Sarazen, M2S Administrator, who coordinates the packaging and delivery of Christmas parcels for the seafarers in Montreal around Christmas. She 'walked' us through the halls and rooms of the Seafarer Centre and explained all the work and volunteering that happens there. A much-needed item was socks and we would like to send some this year with our toques and scarves (we're over 300 already!) Would you consider donating some this month of October? There is a receptacle outside the office for them. Thank you from all of us at Mission Circle and the Seafarers with warm feet will thank you as well!”
