Offering Prayers
Henny Draaistra’s living circumstances are not working well for her. She is looking for a bachelor or one bedroom apartment ideally for $1000.00 or less. Please pray that she will find something that works for her, and contact her if you are aware of any possibilities: 289-442-5144.
As a long cold winter continues, we remember those unhoused or lacking needed resources. We also pray for those feeling more disconnected or lonely in this slower, darker, colder season. May we have eyes to see, ears that listen well, and legs and hands that walk and work alongside people and agencies where needed.
Please continue to keep the community of Tumbler Ridge in your prayers as they navigate difficult days ahead in the aftermath of a tragedy. Pray they find strength, some sense of peace, and comfort as they begin the long journey toward healing. We particularly lift up Maya Gebala, an injured 12-year-old in BC Children’s Hospital ICU still in serious condition, and also her family and friends.
More recent conflict in Venezuela, Mexico, Sierra Leone, and many other places across the world, as well as the marking of four years of war in Ukraine demonstrate our brokenness. Unstable climate, economic, and political/social systems intensify the risks and damages. Generally, those already poor or marginalized are most deeply affected. We pray for hearts in leaders that act justly and love mercy and walk humbly, embodying your care and concern for your world. We pray for strength, peace, comfort, and agency for those suffering in broken people and systems. We pray for an end to war.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Gerda Van Staalduinen, Klaas & Nellie Brobbel, Theresa Jongerden, Johanna Ubbens, and Pastor Peter DeBruyne. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
Colin & Kathleen Wassenaar serve with Engineering Ministries International (EMI) in Cambodia. EMI is a noprofit Christian organization of technical and trade professionals who serve worldwide. They design hospitals, schools, water systems and other facilities enabling Christian Ministry partners to fulfill their calling and transform communities. Please pray for:
• Botra (apprentice at Dai Ku Moto; Colin’s business/ministry) to grow in his understanding of the gospel; Tet (another apprentice) for wisdom on how best to communicate with and to include him; God’s guidance to Colin as the leader
• Healing of Kathleen's hands (they are swollen, itchy, and sore)
• Ongoing adoption plans
• Safety on the roads (walking, riding driving are unpredictable and unsafe)
• God to guide them in developing the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program
• Wisdom in leading youth group (we're learning about working with TCKs: third culture kids)
• Lasting peace between Cambodia and Thailand
We celebrate with Nell Wielhouwer and her family as they mark her 100th birthday on Saturday, February 28th!! Nell has entered the privileged ranks of being a centenarian. Being 100 is an amazing blessing but also comes with some challenges. We pray for Nell and her family in those challenges. We pray that this day and the year ahead will bring many opportunities for Nell to be blessed and also to be a blessing to others. May Nell experience God's presence, strength, and peace through it all.
Gerda is home from hospital, supported by family and doing well. Praise God! We pray for continued healing along with strength, peace, patience and perseverance with her recovery.
Henny VanderWindt has moved to Hamilton to live with family. We give thanks for her connections and support there and pray a blessing on her transition to a new community.
We give thanks for small breaks in the extreme cold, more days of sunshine, and notably longer daylight hours which enable more activity and lift our spirits.
