Message Notes:

1.     The destructive powers of Lust are in the news daily.

2.    The definition of Lust reveals two opposing world views

a)       Secularism: Lust is to have a very strong sexual desire for someone.

b)      Biblical: Lust is sinful when sexual pleasures are pursued for immediate-gratification, personal pleasure, and self-
fulfillment. Matthew 5:27-30

3.    Humans were created for a personal relationship with God and one another.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength…” Deut.6:4,5

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39

 4.    Antidotes to Lust:

 a) Love God with a pure heart. Matthew 5:8

b) Confess your sins to Jesus and another person. Psalm 51

c)  Do whatever it takes to remove triggers and temptation. 1 Cor.6:18

d) Cultivate strong friendships and accountability partners. Colossians 3:5,6

e) See each other as image bearers of the living God. 1 Cor.6:19, 20

f) Rediscover hallowed pleasures of God. Matthew 6:22,23

g) Serve others as Jesus served us. Ephesians 5:21
