News from Your Prayer Ministry Team:
We have been working on creating new ways of communicating prayer at Mountainview. As you may recall, many years ago we had a “Prayer Chain”. The purpose of the prayer chain was to get a prayer request out quickly to a group of people who signed up to be prayer warriors on the chain. The method was by phone, the first person received the call and then they passed it on to the next and then that person to the next...and so on. We would like to re-introduce this as a “Prayer Blast.” The method: Prayer participants would receive the request by email or phone. No passing on, just receiving and praying!
As a community of believers, it is such a blessing to hold one another up in prayer before our Heavenly Father. If you would like to be a participant in the “Prayer Blast” please sign up by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We recognize that there may be those of you who are not hooked up to email but would love to participate. Please call us Marg at 905-979-6672 or Nancy: 905-945-1872 to be a part of the Prayer Blast. You will be contacted by phone with the prayer request.
This “Prayer Blast” does not replace prayer requests sent into the office for those who are signed up for the church email. This is an extra form of prayer to get people praying quickly for a situation, or a Praise and Thanksgiving. Marg and I have both experienced a time in which we were faced with an emergency and found ourselves sitting in an emergency waiting room thinking… we just need people praying right now! Or maybe you just received news of joy and you want everyone to be praising God with you, that is the purpose of this Prayer initiative. Once we have everything in place we hope to have this up and running in the Fall Season.
1. Cadets needs 2 new counselors! You can lead your own group or we can pair you up with an experienced counselor so you can learn the ropes. Cadets is a great program for the boys but also a great way for men to get to know one another. Please contact Greg Van Geest at email@example.com or 289-407-5048.
2. Cadets is looking for people with special interests, skills or hobbies! eg. computers, metal working, electronics, plumbing, cars, health care, police, etc. anything that might be interesting to young boys that you are willing to show them for a night or two. Hopefully this will help me develop a list of potential contacts to help counselors when they are looking for something different for their cadets to work on. Note: both men and women are welcome! :). Please consider this and contact Greg Van Geest if you are interested in helping out in this regard. Thank you! firstname.lastname@example.org or 289-407-5048

Update on Karen Refugee Prayer Request of August 5th: A few weeks ago you heard about the horrible situation that Adonia Htoo and his family are facing in Thailand. Unfortunately, there has not been much improvement. Adonia’s wife, innocent of any crime, still remains in a Thai prison for charges relating to the Thai visa she had. At this point the Thai prison will not allow their application for bail for Adonia’s wife to reside outside the prison until her final trial, which may be months away. Furthermore, Adonia is only able to visit his wife at the prison for half an hour each week. Their 5 year-old daughter, who was separated from her mother at the airport on their way to Canada last month, is on the other side of the country with Adonia’s relatives. Adonia still openly expresses his trust in God, despite these difficulties. He asks for your prayers. Visit www.adoniafamily.wordpress.com for information, updates, and to learn of other ways to support this family.
