KIDS' DAY AT THE MOUNTAINVIEW LIBRARY SUNDAY, MARCH 4!! - all Mountainview children will want to attend our library next week after church to check out our brand-new children's books and DVDs for the very first time! Special treats will be awarded to all children who attend 😊.

COFFEE SOCIAL & NEIGHBOURHOOD POTLUCKS: Due to the use of the gym and kitchen for Neighbourhood Potlucks there will not be coffee in the fellowship hall after the morning services February 25th & March 4th. We encourage you to take this opportunity to offer one another hospitality in your home. Invite someone over for coffee. For those not part of the Potluck that day, who wish to socialize on site, a coffee station will be set up in the lobby.

Our next 65+ meeting will be on Thursday, March 8th. Come join us for coffee at 10. Meeting starts at 10:30. Our speaker comes from the Alzheimer society. The topic will be “The ins and outs of dementia”. Come and listen and learn. And enjoy soup and buns for lunch. Hope to see many of you there.

THEME: Grimsby Prays:  Part of serving the Lord is serving the neighbourhoods He calls us to live and work in. Each week we will look at a different segment of our community and consider how we can pray for them.

Mountainview Book Club:  The book club will be meeting again tonight at 7pm in the library. We will discuss the novel, Orphan Train, by Christina Baker Kline.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice. On Friday, March 2nd, Christians around the world will gather to learn about, pray for and celebrate the Republic of Suriname located on the northeastern coast of South America (a Dutch colony until its independence in 1975). Each year the Christian Churches in the Grimsby Community prepare and participate in a World Day of Prayer service. This year, the local World Day of Prayer Ecumenical Service will be held on Friday, March 2nd at 2 pm at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Grimsby.

THEME:  All God’s Creation is Very Good! SPEAKER:  Father Ronald Angervil. Refreshments will be served following the service. Please invite your friends and family to join us in praying with our brothers and sisters around the world.

NEIGHBOURHOOD POTLUCKS: Neighbourhoods are one way we, as a church body, can connect with fellow Christians who live near us. Each neighbourhood will be invited to attend a potluck lunch following the morning service. This is an opportunity to get to know the other members in your neighbourhood, enjoy good food and fellowship together. Our regular coffee social will still be held while preparations are underway for the luncheon! Join us for a special service of Praise & Worship, Sunday March 4th @ 7 pm. The service will feature one of Smithville Christian High School’s Student Praise. Teams and will include a combination of choral music, praise & worship music with some audience participation. Special guest speaker, Peterson Waihura Wang’ombe, serving with Resonate Global Missions in Kenya, East Africa, will speak about his work with the Nairobi Transformational Network.

An offering will be received for Church Support Ministries – Race Relations.  Church Support Ministries is mandated by synod "to design, organize, and implement programs that will assist the denomination, churches, and members in eliminating the causes and effects of racism within the body of believers and throughout the world.” Because there is a need for leaders and their congregations to have more effective ministry in the diverse communities they serve, there is also a need to have assistance in becoming culturally intelligent. The Office of Race Relations offers the resources and tools to develop this capacity.

THE WEEK OF GUIDED PRAYER (WOGP) is coming to Mountainview again, and will be held May 27 – June 2!  Our theme for this year is “Praying Our Story”.  Note the dates on your calendar and look for more information in the coming weeks.

Smithville Christian High School’s annual bursary campaign. Three out of every ten students at Smithville Christian High School is able to attend because of the generous support of the donors who contribute to the Annual Bursary Campaign. On Friday March 2, 2018, join the celebration of what students learn and experience at Smithville Christian High School, and the impact that a Christian education has on them and this world. This year’s event will feature student testimonies, alumni stories, art and music, in a casual dining atmosphere.  Tickets are $25 per person or sponsor a table of eight for $200. Equipping and Encouragement Day - Saturday, March 3rd with Marion Lensink of CRCNA:  The Implementation Team, along with our Discipleship Team, invites you to attend a day with Marian Lensink from CRCNA at Bethany CRC in Fenwick. We will learn: 

- how to create community through small groups and personal relationships 

- what it looks like to engage with scripture  

- how to pray with and for others  

- how to become more mission oriented  

All sessions will apply to both personal and small-group growth.  Those in leadership positions would benefit greatly. Marian is engaging, fun and quick-paced.  She will lead us through different exercises, personal reflection and practical application. Doors open @ 8:30 for coffee and we will end by 3pm.  Cost is $15 payable at the door.
