GEMS PRAYER PALS!!! We are looking for 50 women from this church to pair up with a GEM and commit to praying for her this year. The girls absolutely LOVED this when we did it two years ago - It's one way for you to have an impact on the younger generation. The FIRST 50 women who contact me will have this opportunity - so do not delay!!! The girls will be making a special journal in which you can connect with one another, including reasons for prayer, info about life and so on. This journal will be passed back and forth through your church mail slot. In early April, we hope to have a Wednesday night hang out, where you will get to meet one another. At that time you will have the opportunity to bless your prayer pal with a small gift. Please consider this opportunity and get back to email@example.com ASAP! Thanks so much!!
Need female youth leaders! The year has kicked off already, but the search is still on for a few female leaders for the youth group. Has God placed youth on your heart? We have a great group of youth, who love to hang out. Come encourage our youth in their walk with God. Talk to Janice if you think youth ministry may be where God is calling you to serve.
Mountainview Book Club: The Book Club will be meeting again on Sunday evening, October 28, at 7:00 pm in the church library. We will be discussing the book, Flee, Fly, Flown by Janet Hepburn. Feel free to come if you have read the book or are considering joining a book club.
SEAFARER PARCELS: Seafarers arriving in Montreal during December are usually away from home for up to six months of the year. This makes Christmas a lonely time, far away from family and friends. The Montreal Seafarers’ Ministry assists sailors throughout the year and especially during the Christmas season. Christmas gifts are a big part of their ministry. Mission Circle, with your help, has been able to send parcels to Montreal for many years. During the year, Mission Circle ladies knit many scarves, toques or socks. To complete the parcels, we welcome your participation. You can help by donating such items as bars of soap, facecloths, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, bags of wrapped candy, boxes of small envelopes, puzzle books (Word Search or Sudoku), pens, playing cards, calendars, etc. Your gift can be placed in the marked box under the mail slots. Or you may help with a monetary donation to purchase the needed items. Please use the envelope provided in your mailbox or at the Welcome Center. Cheques should be made out to “Mountainview CRC” with “Seafarer parcels” written on the memo line. These can be placed in the offering bag or the mail slot by the main office. The Seafarers’ Ministry adds a Bible or New Testament in the seafarer’s own language to each parcel. What a wonderful way to share the message of salvation. Will you help? All gifts should be received by Oct 28th.
MISSION CIRCLE is looking for unused Christmas cards for the Seafarer Parcels. If you have any, please put them in Betsy Witteveen’s mailslot. Thank you for your help.
Help is needed to prepare Seafarer parcels on Monday, October 29 from 1-4pm in the Choir Room. Please give Janny Beck a call at 905-719-5612 if you can give us a hand, even if it is only for an hour or two. Join us for a busy, but fun-filled afternoon.
