Mission Circle is looking for unused Christmas cards for the Seafarer Parcels. If you have any, please put them in Betsy Witteveen’s mailslot. Thank you for your help.
Help is needed to prepare Seafarer parcels on Monday, October 28 from 1-4pm in the Choir Room. Please give Janny Beck a call at 905-719-5612 if you can give us a hand, even if it is only for an hour or two. Join us for a busy, but fun-filled afternoon.
Seafarer Parcels: Seafarers arriving in Montreal during December are usually away from home for up to six months of the year. This makes Christmas a lonely time, far away from family and friends. The Montreal Seafarers’ Ministry assists sailors throughout the year and especially during the Christmas season. Christmas gifts are a big part of their ministry at this time. Mission Circle, with your help, has been able to send parcels to Montreal for many years. During the year, Mission Circle ladies knit many scarves, toques or socks. To complete the parcels, we welcome your participation. You can help by donating such items as bars of soap, facecloths, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, bags of wrapped candy, boxes of small envelopes, puzzle books (Word Search or Sudoku), pens, playing cards, small souvenirs of Canada, calendars, etc. Your gift can be placed in the marked box under the mail slots. Or you may help with a monetary donation to purchase the needed items. Please use the envelope provided in your mailbox or at the Welcome Center. Cheques should be made out to “Mountainview CRC” with “Seafarer parcels” written on the Memo line. These can be placed in the offering bag or the mail slot by the main office. The Seafarers’ Ministry adds a Bible or New Testament in the seafarer’s language to each parcel. What a wonderful way to share the message of salvation with others. Will you help? All gifts should be received by October 27th.
Mountainview Library: The church library is open for half an hour before and after the service. Come and browse through the collection and check out a book or use the self-checkout on the counter outside of regular hours. Adult non-fiction: Playing God Redeeming the Gift of Power by Andy Crouch (author of Culture Making): How are we using the power gifted to us? Are we image bearers of that power or god players? Through Biblical and personal stories, Crouch deals with these questions.
Attention All 65+ers: Please keep your morning of Thursday, November 7 free. Come and join us in the choir room for coffee at 10 and a speaker from Indwell at 10:30. We hope to see many interested folks there.

Smart Phone Spirituality Great Lakes Christian High School welcomes Dr. Noel Walker, Doctor of Ministry. Communication technologies have permeated western culture faster than any other technology in human history. There simply hasn't been time for us to develop a theology of technology or evaluate the spiritual impact of social media and cell phone culture on spiritual formation. Through a review God's Word and recent educational research Noel will present some helpful guidelines for faithful use of communication technologies to the glory of God. Dr. Noel Walker is the senior minister of the Tintern Church of Christ in Vineland. Come join us for breakfast on Wednesday, October 30 8-9:30 am at Great Lakes in Beamsville and be encouraged! RSVP: firstname.lastname@example.org; Questions? Contact: Ingrid Kielstra at 905-563-5374 ext.212; www.glchs.on.ca
Grimsby Life Chain Report: About 250 participants gathered at Main & Christie St. for an hour of silent prayer to end abortion. About 20 counter-protesters of the Handmaids Local 905 - a radical pro-abortion group were also there. While everything remained peaceful, they made their hatred of Christians and pro-lifers known. Their desire to intimidate us was obvious but our pro-life supporters were not intimidated. Instead, we were encouraged - we must be a threat to all that they hold dear, namely abortion on demand. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad... (Matthew 5:11
