The Gleaners are looking for new Mountainview volunteers. Frank Ritskes has faithfully served as the church’s liaison and volunteer with the Niagara Gleaners. He is needing to step down and is looking for someone to take is place attending quarterly meetings, distributing materials to Mountainview and pitching in as needed on site.

Mission Circle: Shelves were emptied this week with a shipment to ‘Sew-on-Fire’ (a humanitarian aid agency in Burlington). Knitted items included some 350 children and adult hats, scarves, mittens, etc.; 150 face cloths, 25 baby covers and 85 toys. Sewn items included 72 articles of children’s clothing, 61 diapers, 29 backpacks and 34 pencil cases. Recently 30 lap blankets were also given to Deer Park Villa and some 25 afghans to the Wellwood Cancer Clinic (Juravinski Hospital) and Indwell (affordable housing in Hamilton). Countless drawstring bags and eyeglass cases were delivered to Medical Missions International (in Hamilton) and small baggies for medical purposes to McMaster Hospital. Many baby items and afghans have also been donated to Family and Children’s Service in Niagara. We are thankful to all who faithfully sew, crochet and knit and are grateful that what we do can be of help to improve the lives of others. We welcome new members - Join us on Wednesday mornings.

The churches of the Grimsby Ministerial (Lakemount, Mountainview, St. Andrew’s, St John’s, St. Joseph’s and Trinity United) invite you to join us for our 2019 Lenten Lunch series, every Thursday from March 7 through April 11. This year the theme is “Building Christ’s Kingdom, Not Our Empires.” Although we have different traditions, structures and emphases in our denominations, we are all called by the same Christ to serve and build up his kingdom. Talk about which fruits of the Spirit are easier for each of you to practice, and which are harder. Then pray for each other, asking the Spirit to grow those fruits in your family. New Climate Conversation: Bangladesh - Looking for new faith-based materials to talk about creation care and climate change? Aging: the Final Frontier is a one day conference held on Saturday, March 30 at the Gibson Center in Toronto, 5 minutes east of HWY 404 and Steeles Ave. Co-sponsored by CRC Faith Formation Ministries and CRC Disability Concerns, the workshops will address issues faced by the elderly, those who ministry to and with the elderly in our churches, those who have elderly parents, and those who are pondering what life may be like as one ages. Lenten Prayer Journey - The Bridge Missional Communities in Niagara Falls (church plant) has transformed the HUB into a contemplative prayer space during the season of Lent. Come and join morning prayers at 8am and mid-day prayers at 12pm. There are prayer stations, a prayer labyrinth and comfortable corners for meditation and to be still to wait on God. Family Outreach Ontario invites you to an information evening on Thursday, April 4, at Wellandport URC. We are very excited to have Sergeant Detective Richard VanderBoom, with the Hamilton Police Service, as our featured speaker. Rich will describe the various types of drugs that are widely abused, how they are ingested (including the paraphernalia used), and the addictive nature of them; as well as issues around cannabis deregulation. Rich has a lot of knowledge about drugs and drug abuse, is very passionate about this subject and expresses info. well in light of his faith. Also, Mr. H. will tell of his addiction to drugs and his recovery process. Please plan to attend and tell others about it as well.
