MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS
Join us Sunday morning at 10 am or anytime throughout the week. This Sunday Pastor Erick will present a message entitled “Sitting in Suffering”. He will be taking a look at the book of Job chapter 2.
Life includes pain. The book of Job helps us think hard about how we understand and deal with the difficult parts of life. In the end the wisdom giving is to move from simplistic answers to simple faith.
LET’S BUILD SOME COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS!
Guatemala Dinner:
Thank you to all those who came out to support the DIG Guatemala Fundraising Dinner & Silent Auction event held on October 14th. The evening was a success in so many ways, and we are incredibly thankful to all the hands that helped make it happen:) We were able to raise $10,000 to contribute to the work that is done in Guatemala through DIG!! If you weren't able to attend the dinner, but would like to contribute to a team member who is going, or DIG as a cause, visit mountainviewcrc.org and click on the Guatemala Mission Trip advertisement on the homepage. There, you will find an overview of DIG, ways to support our team financially, and details for other upcoming fundraising events (such as Paint Night and Urn Making)!
Kids, find your next book in the youth or picture book sections and see the librarian for a Treasure Box
prize!
JOYFUL GIVING
UPCOMING OFFERING: November 5th A.M. – World Renew - World Hunger: Right now, world hunger is once again on the rise. Despite our ability to produce enough food to feed the global population, as many as 828 million people still experience hunger. With conflicts around the world, and other economic pressures, food prices rose considerably in 2022. Global food systems are still struggling to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic—and drought and erratic weather are affecting crops around the world.
In a world of plenty, we often ask ourselves why the injustice of hunger exists. But as people of God, we know that justice will prevail—often through the actions of God’s people. To “hunger and thirst for righteousness” means to align our hearts with God and his compassionate love for those who are hungry. It also means we are called to act—by giving generously, sharing our prayers, and advocating for the most vulnerable.
Niagara International Students Ministry - Winter Clothing Drive: Fall and winter are on the way. Many International Students arrive in Canada without proper winter clothing. One of the ways NIS supports international students, at Brock and Niagara College, is by sharing used winter clothing. If you have winter clothes you no longer need, or no longer fit, you can clean your closet and bless a student with them. We need winter clothes for men, women and children. If you have questions please contact Hilda at: hildavk@gmail,com
Fill a vital role with World Renew DRS! - Want to escape to some warmer weather in the upcoming months? Fill a vital role with World Renew Disaster Response Services! Contact Diana at dmarquez@worldrenew.net to get started.
From the Deacons, Jews for Jesus Canada, an organization that has participated in worship services at Mountainview in the past, has made an urgent appeal for your support in this time of crisis in the Middle East. Your prayers are requested for the safety of their missionaries and staff members as they continue to minister to people in need after the attack. Financial support is also requested to meet the critical needs within the Jewish community, to be the hands and feet of Jesus amidst this crisis. Donations to Jews for Jesus Canada can be made through the Bridge App or in the offering container at the entrance to the sanctuary.
The deacons will update you how to respond with financial support for humanitarian aid for the victims of this tragedy as we prayerfully discern where the support should be directed. In the meantime, continue to pray for peace and stability in the Middle East and an end to the ongoing conflict.
