MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS

Join us Sunday morning at 10 am in person or online. Pastor Erick Schuringa presents a message entitled “Worth Repeating” He will be looking at the book of Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8-10.

This week we look at a familiar passage to many and a core teaching of the Bible. It is important to look at the familiar and basic teachings again so that we can consider how they live among us and shape how we function.

Join us after the service for our Ministry Fair - check out what is happening at Mountainview this coming season.

JOYFUL GIVING

Sunday’s offerings are for our Ministry Promise (a.k.a. Budget) AND for...

Upcoming Offering:

UPCOMING OFFERING: September 21st A.M. – Resonate Global Mission: Christian Reformed World Missions and Christian Reformed Home Missions came together in 2017 as Resonate to walk alongside CRCs as they join God’s mission in their own neighborhoods and around the world.

World Renew Disaster Response Services (DRS) - Are you someone with time on your hands that is passionate about service towards God’s kingdom? It’s not too late to repair homes in a disaster-impacted community this fall by volunteering with World Renew DRS! Contact Diana Marquez, our Volunteer Program Manager, at dmarquez@worldrenew.net or 616-224-0701 for more information.

Hope Beyond the Headlines - Media outlets often move on quickly after covering the initial impacts of conflict, natural disasters, and other devastating events—leaving behind stories of loss, displacement, and communities struggling with hunger, poverty, and hopelessness. Yet God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that He has plans for a hope and a future. World Renew, together with our Christian partners and as a member of the Integral Alliance, continues to walk alongside communities long after the cameras are gone—helping restore hope and rebuild lives. Now participating in the third Neglected Crises campaign, World Renew is calling for collective action to support people affected by long-term, complex, and overlooked crises—in Madagascar, Sudan, Haiti, and beyond. Your gift can help extend God’s hope to places where suffering persists long after public attention fades. Learn more or give today at: worldrenew.ca/globalfoodcrisis

Support Earthquake Survivors in Afghanistan - Thousands of families are still experiencing urgent need from the devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Afghanistan on August 31, followed by multiple aftershocks across remote, mountainous regions in several eastern provinces. More than 2,200 lives have been lost, and entire villages have been levelled—leaving families without shelter as winter approaches. We pray for God’s comfort for grieving families, healing for the injured, and provision for those displaced. World Renew is responding to meet urgent needs among the most vulnerable. Please give generously at worldrenew.ca/afghanistan-earthquake, by calling 1-888-975-3769, or by mailing a cheque made out to World Renew, with "Afghanistan Earthquake 2025" in the memo line, to: 3475 Mainway, PO Box 5070 STN LCD 1, Burlington, ON L7R 3Y8.

Support The Banner Magazine - The Banner’s annual fundraising campaign continues! More than just an award-winning magazine, The Banner is a journalistic ministry dedicated to informing, inspiring, and connecting our CRC community. Available to you in both print and online, this vital resource is made possible by the generous support of individuals like you. Help meet the ambitious $500,000 goal for the 2025 campaign by giving today! thebanner.org/donate

You are making a difference! On behalf of the ministries of the Christian Reformed Church in North America, thank you for your gifts to ministry shares. Your support enables congregations to do so much more to further God's Kingdom than any one church could do alone. Our denomination could not impact the world through missions, media, and church development without your incredible and faithful support. Thank you! Knowledge is the beginning of wisdom. We are available to share our experience, strength and hope. Confidentiality guaranteed. 905-933-3994 or www.familyoutreachontario.com.

DENOMINATIONAL NEWS

ReFrame Ministries Provides Devotions, Podcasts, and Blogs - Start a new Biblical habit with resources from ReFrame Ministries. DEVOTIONS including the Today devotional offer short daily meditations and scripture. Kids Corner includes devotions, especially for children and guardians. PODCASTS help you dig into scripture with Groundwork, explore pop culture and Christianity with Think Christian, or energize your church communications with Church Juice. BLOGS offering spiritual advice for parenting, dating, and more are available in new posts from Family Fire. Learn more about the spiritual habit of praying with ReFrame’s prayer ministry.

Groundwork: Be A Disciple of Jesus Christ - Many Christians have questions about following Jesus. Join Groundwork as we study 1 Timothy 4:7-8, 1 Peter 2:2-5, and 1 Timothy 2:1-3 to help us define discipleship, understand what this means for the lives of his disciples today, and discover the importance of community on our journey. Listen now at Groundworkonline.com and subscribe to Groundwork's weekly emails for future episodes.

Kids Corner Devotions: Baking With God - Check out this week’s kids’ devotion, “Baking With God” at www.kidscorner.net. In the devotion story today, a good time for prayer was when the family spent time baking bread. Each of us has different routines, so when is the best time for you to pray? Maybe it’s when you ride your bike to school or when you spend time building Lego. Check out all the great content at kidscorner.net.

Thrive Faith Formation Tip - This week is Mission Emphasis Week in the Christian Reformed Church, a time to think about God’s mission to restore and renew his broken creation through Jesus Christ (see Rev. 21:1–4). It is also a time to renew our participation in that mission by supporting missionaries nearby and far away and by creating our own descriptions of God’s mission—a few sentences that describe what God is doing and why we are glad he’s doing it. Practice sharing your sentences with one another, and then look for opportunities to share them with others!  Brought to you by Thrive: crcna.org/Thrive

Family Fire - Family Fire is an online community exploring Spirit-led family, marriage, parenting, in-laws, blended families, and intimacy. Find encouraging articles and devotions at familyfire.com. Subscribe for regular email updates and connect with our Family Fire community on Facebook.
