Once you have settled in, connected, shared refreshments, etc, consider these questions together.
Questions
1. What words or idea in the passage or sermon stuck out for you? What grabbed your attention?
2. Reflect on the past year together. What happened in 2025 that was a blessing? What was challenging?
a. How did you react to the blessings? How did you react to the challenges?
3. Why were the disciples concerned about returning to Judea? In the end, were they right or wrong to be concerned?
4. Try putting yourself in Martha and Mary’s shoes: Jesus doesn’t show up until four days after Lazarus has died. How do you feel? Do you respond more like Martha or more like Mary?
5. How would you describe your own faith? Are you more sensitive to the moment at hand, like Mary? Or are you more practical and dependable, like Martha? What are the strengths and weaknesses of both?
6. John 11:35 is the shortest verse in the Bible, “Jesus wept.” Why is it significant that Jesus wept? What does it show about who Jesus is?
7. If you were standing at the tomb of Lazarus with Jesus, would you have believed that Jesus was going to raise Lazarus from the dead in that moment?
