April 23, 2023 - Pauline Epistle Sandwich
Scripture Passage: Philippians 4:1
1) Jolene asserted that the actions Paul takes (greeting, praying, sending ambassadors, thanking God, encouraging, etc) are bits of instructive scripture just as his instructions for Godly living are. What do you think of this idea?
2) What observations mentioned in the sermon resonate with you? Which ones do you disagree with and why?
3) If you were going to encourage your church in a specific area mentioned in the sermon, which area would you chose? Can you frame this as an encouraging statement like Paul might write in a letter?
4) If you were going to pray for a blessing for the church, what blessing would you pray for? Can you frame this as the kind of blessing you would hear at the end of a service?
5) After considering this sermon, is there something in the life of the church that you struggle with or worry about? How might you pray over this area, whether on your own or with others?
6) Extra credit: Can you find something Paul did with his language (it has to be a verb!) that wasn't mentioned today in the sermon?
