What’s Going ON? Youth Fundraising

Hey! Pastor Brady here! Every year Youth@Mountainview has two major events that we attend: The All Ontario Youth Convention (AOYC) and SERVE.

AOYC will be happening May 16-18 at Wilfrid Laurier University.  We have been really pleased to see this ministry continue to gather the kind of momentum that it had in previous years where youth can experience profound spiritual formation alongside their peers.

This year Youth@Mountainview has a special opportunity to attend SERVE all the way in Medicine Hat, Alberta!  This means that we are flying to SERVE!  On top of that, the team we are sending is larger than ever before!  In 2023 we sent a team of 14 members to Virginia, in 2024 we sent a team of 16 to Indiana, last year our team of 14 served locally here in Niagara, and this year we are an exceptionally large team of 25 youth and leaders heading to Medicine Hat!  I am already so grateful to God for the potential that this year has to make an incredible impact on the faith of the young people in our community.

With the extra costs of flying, renting vehicles, and an unexpectedly large team, we are, admittedly, over budget for SERVE.  However, this is an extremely good problem to have.  We are only over budget because of the growth that Youth@Mountainview has experienced and we have so many youth who want to grow in their faith by serving God and neighbour.  In my eyes, this is a great opportunity for our congregation to show our young people how much we truly value their spiritual development.

That being said, we are hosting three different fundraising events this spring that I want to draw your attention to!

Youth Fundraising Dinner

The first event is the upcoming Youth Fundraising Dinner happening on March 28 at Mountainview. Cocktails & Photo booth at 5:30 pm Dinner will begin at 6 pm.

This year we are adding a silent auction as part of the dinner which will include a wide variety of items, services, and events provided by local businesses and members of Mountainview’s community, young and old!

This event has been in our church announcements the past few weeks. You can click on the image there or use the link below to register: https://forms.gle/6tDo31bMVDAghGam7

Westward We Roll (Bowling Fundraiser)

Our second event is a bowling event happening on April 11 from 4-6pm at KingPin in St. Catharines.

This event will include registering as teams of 6. The minimum donation for a team will be $300, but teams are encouraged to raise more either by themselves or from others sponsoring your team.  There will be prizes for the best dressed team, the team with the highest score, and the team that raises the most money!

For general questions and registration, please connect with Adam Bylsma, adamby98@hotmail.com or any of the youth leaders: Dave De Graaf, Liz Kikkert, Erin Van Driel, and Amber Vanderhout.

Carwash

As one simple, final event we will be hosting a car wash on May 2 from 9am to 2pm, which coincides with the hours of a blood donor clinic happening at Mountainview!

We are still looking for a sponsor to join us in this event so that we might have something for sale alongside the carwash.

We truly appreciate your prayers and your generousity as we anticipate these vital youth ministry events.
