What's Going On? Fall Is Coming

For many parts of Mountainview ministry, summer is downtime.  Now that it is mid-August, we are preparing for the next ministry season.  You can see all the slides inviting you back to the whole range of opportunities to serve and to grow in Christ.  I want to highlight a few particular things that are new or different from other years.

Faithwalking.  You may have heard me mention Faithwalking in a message or conversation.  I have completed this training and have been helping others go through it by coaching them.  It is a journey of self-discovery in which you face what is messy and broken in your life and learn to let God guide you forward.  It requires honesty and openness and is at times challenging and painful.  However, it is worth the times of struggle to experience life in a healthier way.  I have a number of people who have already shown interest in starting this journey this fall.  If you think you might also want to do this, let me know.  I can give you more details to help you decide if this is for you at this time.

Practicing Shalom.  A group of 5 from staff and council are joining a learning group.  As the title implies, we are going to learn to expand our understanding of God’s plan for his world and then seek to put some things into practice.  This starts with some reading now and a retreat at the beginning of October.  So, right now this is just letting you know it is coming.  What we learn and what inspires us will be passed on to you along the way.

Scripture Group and Sermon Series.  As we enter the fall season we will be starting a series on Matthew 5-7 which is usually called “The Sermon on the Mount”.  If you are interested in joining the group that memorizes scripture passages, particularly if you are interested in choosing and memorizing a part of Matthew 5-7, please join us.  You do not have to commit to making a public presentation (Sunday service sharing) of your passage.  We plan to do the beatitudes (Matt 5:3-12) with a group of us and then each of us can work on a different part of these chapters.

If you have questions about any of these groups, please reach out to me.
