Church Family - August 2nd, 2026
Offering Prayers
Roland Vangameren moved to Shalom this week. This is an unexpected and rather sudden move for Roland amid other stresses with Cheryl’s health. Cheryl is also experiencing significant pain. We pray for relief from her pain. We trust that God walks with them and pray that they will all experience that presence. We pray for both Roland & Cheryl and their family as they continue to manage and face so much. May God grant strength, wisdom, comfort, and peace that passes understanding.
Irene (& Dan) Huinink’s father, Hendrick De Groot, passed away this past Sunday, July 26th in his 91st year. Our Condolences to Irene & Dan, Kyle, Amber and Dylan with the loss of their father and grandfather. Visitation will take place Tues Aug 4 from 5-8pm and a Memorial Service Wed Aug 5 at 11:00 am, both at Mount Hope CRC. The service will be livestreamed. An Obituary is available HERE. May God fill the De Groot family with his comfort, hope and peace.
Henny Vanderkolk has been in and out of hospital with various health concerns. We pray for answers and treatment that enables her to safely and comfortably receive care at home until a long-term placement is available, ideally at Shalom. May God provide wisdom, healing, strength and peace to Henny & John and their family through their challenges.
Louise (Hetty) Romkema passed away last Saturday, July 25th at the age of 97. She and her husband Cornelius(Cor)† had been longtime members of Bethel CRC in Dundas. On moving to Grimsby, they also attended Mountainview. Recently, Louise moved to long-term care in Dundas. A private family interment and funeral will take place at some point in the future. We give thanks for Louise’s life and pray for God’s comfort and peace for their family and friends as they mourn her loss. May God comfort all who mourn.
We continue to pray for all businesses, and communities of people, animals and nature negatively impacted by the ongoing forest fires across Canada but particularly in Northern Ontario. Please read a World Renew Prayer for Those Affected by Wildfires.
A prayer for all those suffering from loneliness and mental health challenges: “Lord, thank you for the Church. We pray that you would mark your churches as communities of hospitality and connection that can help reduce isolation and nurture hope for those who are struggling. Make us a channel of your peace, we pray.”
Prayers for Healthy Communities from the CRCNA Office of Social Justice
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: the De Visser & Gerritsen families, Martha Tamming, Rina VanTellingen, Shirley Bergshoeff, Anna Geuze, Lois Hanson, Ernie & Yetty Termorshuizen, Bill Vermeer, Willy Vanderhorst, and Klaas & Nellie Brobbel. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
“We would like to thank the many of you who came and gave us hugs and handshakes. Loosing a sister is difficult but knowing many are thinking about you is a blessing. God is good.”
Jerry & Alice Gerritsen
We give thanks for a wonderful week filled with so many games where we were able to discover and be curious about teams, winning and losing well. We also had great weather! Prayers for health as we enter into a new week of camp. We are coming close to the end of camp and are thankful for the connections we have made with campers and staff through the last 4 weeks. We pray that we are able to continue in this work feeling strong and healthy.
We give thanks for the Doppenberg family’s work in Guatemala with DIG. We pray for God’s ongoing blessing and wisdom in their work. We particularly give thanks for the emergency surgeries enabled through the connections and advocacy of DIG and for the Butterfly system ultrasound that is facilitating much-needed prenatal care. God is good! He gave the people, resources and time to do this important work. See more details in their most recent newsletter, attached HERE!
Staff will be on vacation over the next month off and on. We pray for rest and restoration for each of them and their families as they take some time away from ministry. Over the next weeks while Pastor Erick & Ruth Ann, Pastor Kristy, and Pastor Jolene each have some time away, please contact your Elders with any pastoral concerns or the office with any other concerns in their absence. We give thanks for the gifts and ministry of our staff and our volunteers. May all our leaders experience summer sabbath.
This is Pastor Brady’s last Sunday preaching and it will also be the DeBoer family’s last Sunday at Mountainview before their move to Barrie. We give thanks for Brady & Shannon’s many gifts, and contributions to worship and ministry. We give thanks to God for their beautiful family, Esther, Aleida and Madelyn. May God guide, bless and keep them through all the transitions and work ahead. May God bless Pastor Brady as he finalizes school, becomes ordained, and begins a new phase of Ministry. May He go before them to guide them, beside them to instruct and befriend them, beneath them support them, and behind them to protect them.
