Offering Prayers

Ria VanStaalduinen, mother to Sandra (& John) DeVisser and sister to Jerry (& Alice) Gerritsen, passed away quite suddenly this week at 92 years of age. We pray for the DeVisser, Gerritsen and VanStaalduinen families as they process Ria’s loss and prepare to say final goodbyes. We know God walks with them. May they experience God's peace, strength, comfort and care as they walk this road together. The visitation will take place on Monday, July 27th from 6-8 pm at Providence CRC in Beamsville. A Memorial Service will be held also at Providence on Tuesday, July 28th at 11:30 am. A private family interment will take place prior to the service. Ria’s Obituary is linked here: https://www.tallmanfuneralhomes.ca/obituaries/Henderika-Vanstaalduinen?obId=49062696

Cheryl Vangameren moved to the palliative unit at Shaver Wing 2 West – Rm 215. Cheryl welcomes visitors!  She is on the list for a bed at McNally house. We pray for both Roland & Cheryl and their family as they continue to digest a lot of new information and as they manage moves, separation, and care going forward. May they know in every moment that God walks with them.

We pray for God’s mercy in the many conflicts waged across the globe. We ask for protection for civilians, political will for thriving and shalom of people in these regions, and meaningful steps towards peace. May God make wars to cease, “beat swords into ploughshares” and open human hearts to receive the gift of the stranger. Many of these wars are over power. Creation is not ours to possess or exploit, but a gift to steward wisely for the flourishing of all. May God grant our leaders humility, wisdom, commitment to the common good, and a spirit of partnership and shared responsibility. May He begin this work in our own hearts as well. May we remember that “the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it”, our deep connection to one another, and that God is a God of abundance. Adapted from Do Justice

We continue to lift up in prayer the brave firefighters and first responders working on the front lines to contain wildfires. May God grant them strength, endurance, and wisdom as they do challenging work and make difficult choices. Protect them from the smoke and flames. We pray for the people in danger, and for calming winds and sufficient rain to help end the fires. We pray for all who are affected by smoke & haze caused by the fires. Lord, bring comfort to people who struggle to breathe. Open their lungs and calm their airways.

Giving Thanks

Trudy Hofland has moved into a new room at Albright 414N.  We ask for prayers for her continued transition and pray that she will experience God’s peace and presence. Visitors are always welcome.

We give thanks for the amazing experiences shared by leaders and youth alike at SERVE in Medicine Hat and at the Cadet Camporee! We thank God for his provision, care and blessing on these trips. We celebrate these people, these opportunities, and this learning with all who attended. We are eager to see pictures and hear stories about the way God has worked through SERVE and the Cadet Camporee.

We give thanks for a wonderful week that was filled with exciting science experiments where we were able to discover and be curious about God's amazing creation. Illness is making its way through campers and staff.  We pray for protection for those who have remained healthy and for strength and healing for those with feeling unwell. As we move into games week, we pray for continued health and stamina for staff and campers. We have reached the halfway point of camp and we pray for renewed energy as we continue in this ministry.

We give thanks for Peter Juhlke’s work in Vineland with Upper Deck Ministry (YFC). Key Programs throughout the school year include: Online Gaming, Friday Night Drop-In, Wayfinder (Discipleship), Ball Hockey, and a Lunch Program. One awesome opportunity of summer is attending Camp Li-Lo-Li with youth. YFC rents the camp towards the end of summer each year. There they do a whole host of outdoor activities and share the gospel with youth throughout Southwestern Ontario (from various YFC programs). Consider supporting a camper! Staff will be on vacation over the next month off and on. We pray for rest and restoration for each of them and their families as they take some time away from ministry. Over the next weeks while Pastor Erick & Ruth Ann, Alice and Pastor Jolene each have some time away, please contact your Elders with any pastoral concerns or the office with any other concerns in their absence. We give thanks for the gifts and ministry of our staff and our volunteers. May all our leaders experience summer sabbath.
