Church Family - August 30th, 2026

Offering Prayers

Clem Jr is going for cataract surgery his eyes. The first one is August 31, and the second Sept 7. We pray together with Clem & Jodie that all will go well. Clem & Jodie have confidence that Jesus is the best surgeon and that he will have Clem in his hands.

We continue to lift up Dorothy Veenhof’s family, former members Heather (Henry) Kikkert and extended family as the make final preparations and celebrate and remember her life and legacy. A visitation will take place on Friday, September 11 at 1pm and the Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2pm, both at Mountainview. May Dorothy’s family and friends experience God’s peace, strength, comfort, and care in the weeks ahead. We trust that God walks with them and with all who mourn.

We pray for the damage and devastation resulting from the recent flash floods in Nepal-Tibet. We pray for resources, safety, and stamina (emotionally and physically) for First Responders and those providing disaster relief. We pray for all those missing loved ones will find comfort and have closure. We pray that all those displaced will find comfort, care and support. We pray for wisdom and compassion from local leaders and the worldwide community. May God have mercy.

Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of:  Pastor Brady & Shannon DeBoer and family, Gerry & Pauline Bijsma, Gert & Hinke Draaistra, Anna Geuze, and Sylvia Vellinga. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.

Giving Thanks

The SOCO Beach project has wrapped up. Read their most recent update and reflections here. We ask for God’s continual blessing and guidance for the Young Adults who have for the last 4 months stretched and grown in faith and intentional Christian community living. May their learning and growth spread God’s love and light wherever they disperse into community.

We give thanks for our ministry leaders and staff. Kids Ministry in particular is taking a break over the next two weeks. Alice is away over the next week and a bit. Any ministry concerns can be directed to Karin in the office while she is away. We pray that that all of our leaders will have found some rest and relaxation over the summer. We pray for excitement and a renewed sense of calling for the upcoming ministry year.

We give thanks for Kathleen & Colin Wassenaar and their continued work in Cambodia with EMI and other ministry work. Their specific thank are for Colin’s opportunies to preach recently, a safe, productive trip to Vanuatu for Kathleen, avocado season and safety on the roads. They pray that they could entrust today and the future and specifically the results of the upcoming embryo transfer into God’s hands and that they will be open to God’s leading. Their most recent update is linked HERE.
