Church Family - September 6th, 2026
Offering Prayers
Clem Jr actually had a consult and treatment but not surgery. He has cataracts and may still need surgery in the future. He will keep us posted. Clem & Jodie are thankful for the congregation’s prayer and support and are confident that they are safely held in Jesus’ hands.
We pray that that all of our leaders will have found some rest and relaxation over the summer. We pray for excitement, vitality, and a renewed sense of calling for the upcoming ministry year.
Henny Vanderkolk visited MAC this week and they finally have answers to some of her health struggles. She has been diagnosed with Parkinsons. Although it is nice to have answers, they can also be hard. Henny & John continue to await placement in a nursing home, preferably Shalom, and pray for wisdom, strength and patience in the waiting as Henny’s health continues to decline.
May God comfort the thousands of grieving and devasted families and communities in Canada and across the world, due to natural disasters: earthquakes, floods, flash floods, forest fires, and tornados. We pray for strength, patience and perseverance for rescue workers, and relief organizations. We pray for resources, wisdom and compassion from leaders. May God Guide us to be faithful stewards of his earth and to show compassion where and how we can to all who need it, near and far.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Martha Luth, Evelyn Vander Meer, Louise (Anna) Boele, Reinhard Mech, Connie & Henry Van Rooyen, and Joyce Wheaton. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
On removing all of Gerry Bijsma’s staples, the surgeon was very positive about Gerry’s healing and mobility post hip surgery. He also has very little pain other than that from the surgery itself. Praise God! He will be seen again in a month and hopes to return to church soon.
We give thanks for the opportunity to share gifts and time together in intergenerational worship and for the strong representation of many age groups in our Church Family. May God bless our worship and ministry together!
We give thanks for Kevin Steiva and his continued work as the Unit Chaplain and Senior Planner for Policy and Training for Army Chaplains in Kingston.
Here is a short update for Prayer and Praise from Kevin & Jackie: “We are doing well in Kingston. We have had a few busy months with renos and have recently moved Kevin's mom to Kingston. With the fall kicking in, more routine is a good thing. In terms of prayer I would ask that I (Jackie) find balance in my life between helping our daughter and family (our 4 yr old grandson has autism-but does fairly well) and seeking out other opportunities. Another area of concern is that of my parents. Their health is failing and we are hoping to get them on the crisis list for Shalom. My dad has fallen many times and has many other health issues. My mother’s dementia is progressing which is causing some difficulties. Thank you so much for the prayers, one can never have enough to carry you through life.”
