Offering Prayers
As school has begun again this past week, we give thanks for beginnings. We pray for a good start to a new school year for our kids, pre-teens, teens and adult learners. We pray for a safe and smooth transition for those heading away to college/university or starting in a new school. We also continue to lift our teachers, administrators, principals, directors, assistants, custodians, parents, and volunteer leaders (classroom assistance, committees and boards) up to God. May God give joy in the journey, wisdom in the planning, perseverance and curiosity in the learning/teaching /discovery, and humility and shalom in the relationships.
We pray for the new year of ministry ahead for all of our leaders, volunteers, and participants. We pray for those who create resources that we use in our various groups. We give thanks for Church Staff, Ministry Leaders, and Volunteers. We pray a blessing on our many ministries. May we be blessed and, in turn, bless others through all the gifts shared, relationships built, growth/stretching experienced, and service done during our time together. May we, in all these ministries and in all of our work, truly lean into God and what work He has to do in us. May we see where God is moving and move to join Him on the way.
We pray for peace, strength and comfort and the Veenhof and Spoelstra families and friends say final goodbyes to Dorothy Veenhof and remember her life together today (Friday; Visitation @ 1pm; Memorial @ 2pm). May God comfort all who mourn.
May God comfort the thousands of grieving and devasted families and communities in Canada and across the world, due to natural disasters: earthquakes, floods, flash floods, forest fires, and tornados. We pray for strength, patience and perseverance for rescue workers, and relief organizations. We pray for resources, wisdom and compassion from leaders. May God Guide us to be faithful stewards of his earth and to show compassion where and how we can to all who need it, near and far.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Henny & John Vanderkolk, Gerry & Pauline Bijsma, Anna Spoelstra, Lydia Koomans, Nell Wielhouwer, Lois Hanson, and Gerry & Marguerite Termorshuizen. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
We met as a staff recently, at Alice’s home (Thank you Alice!) to plan for the year ahead. We enjoyed reflection on scripture, listened to one another, discussed mission, planned for the fall, and shared a meal. We give thanks to God for a cohesive, creative, collaborative and capable staff team. May God bless us each in our gifts and stretch us where we need it in the year ahead. We pray for the same for all of Mountainview’s Leaders and Ministries.
Schedules are shifting, temperatures are changing, and seasons are switching as summer comes to an end. We give thanks for changes and rhythms in all aspects of our lives that enable new perspectives and infuse situations with new energy and inspiration, even though change also challenges us. May God’s wisdom and love guide and feed our new beginnings.
School has started up and so the work of Upper Deck Ministries begins again in earnest. We give thanks for Peter Juhlke’s work in Vineland with students providing lunches, snacks, mentoring, activities and connection. May their work be blessed!
