Church Family - October 25th, 2026
Offering Prayers
Rina Vantellingen went into cardiac arrest earlier this week at Wellington Park Care Centre Burlington (where she is living during rehab). She is now in Joseph Brant Hospital where she will be for a while. We pray for strength, patience, peace and comfort for Rina and her family. May they all feel God's nearness as they walk this road together.
We pray for unity (not uniformity) in our country, our churches, and our world. We give thanks for the Alberta referendum recently that, although it highlighted difference, still signalled a desire for working together. We pray for our relationship with our closest neighbour and our neighbours around the globe. We pray for our leaders and their leaders; may they all seek justice, walk humbly and love mercy and may we hold our elected officials accountable and also support them to that end.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Henk Heersink, Shirley Bergshoeff, Clarence Alkema, Gerry & Pauline Bijsma, Anna Geuze, Sylvia Vellinga, Ernie & Yetty Termorshuizen, and Martha Luth. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
This week, we give thanks and pray for Kevin Stieva and his wife Jackie. Kevin serves with the Canadian Armed Forces. He and Jackie recently moved back to Kingston. In August 2025 his new role began at the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Center (CADTC) as the unit chaplain and the senior planner for policy and training related to chaplain employment in operations. Kevin and Jackie are also busy caring for aging parents, renovating their space, and connecting with children and grand-children who are finally more local and accessible. Feel free to reach out to them (contact info on our missionary page, in our directory, and in the Bridge App) for more information or to offer words of encouragement.
Anne Fisher wishes to give her thanks for all those who have coordinated and offered her rides to church and also all those who visit faithfully. She so appreciates your efforts and is very thankful for the kindness, generousity, care, and warm fellowship at Mountainview. We continue to pray for Anne as she feels the distance from her community. We pray for all those who feel that distance.
We give thanks for the way that our Volunteers, Elders, Ministry of Service Coordinators, Pastoral Care Pastor, Lead Pastor, Staff, and Pastoral Visitors help to keep all of us connected and cared for, spiritually and otherwise, to the best of their ability. We pray that we will continue to be upheld in our efforts to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our church and surrounding community.
We give thanks for the tremendous response and effort in getting bags and flyers for Trick or Canning out this week. Only one route left as this is written on Friday early afternoon. We’ve also already had people dropping full bags of food at the church. We pray for this campaign, for generous hearts, for ample resources at GBF, and for eager volunteers. We give thanks for the opportunity to serve in and with our community in such an impactful way.
