Offering Prayers
Our condolences to Ron & Alice Posthumus with the loss of Ron’s father this Tuesday. He was ready to go and surrounded by family. He will be dearly missed. Visitation is Friday, May 29 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Stonehouse Whitcomb. The Service of Remembrance is Saturday, May 30 @ 11:00 am at Mountainview. May God’s love, strength and comfort encircle and enfold the Posthumus family at this time.
Kit Rustenburg has been in WLMH for testing. She hopes to be home soon. We pray for answers, patience, health, and healing for Kit.
Anna Geuze remains in hospital and patiently, peacefully awaits placement in long-term care. We pray for continued peace and strength for what lies ahead for Anne and her family.
We pray for compassion and wise responses as a concerning Ebola outbreak in central Africa raises international alarm. May those bringing healing and care be strengthened in their work and receive the resources they need. May leaders respond to address not only this issue, but also underlying conditions and causes that have led to those most vulnerable once again being so keenly affected. God have mercy and bring justice in us and through us.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Theresa Jongerden, Trudy Hofland, Anna De Bruyne (Jr.), Stien Ritskes, Anne Fisher, Jenny Smit, and Gertie Huizinga. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
This Sunday, we celebrate the baptism of Madelyn Johanna De Boer and give thanks for the gift she is to her family. We pray a blessing on, Shannon & Brady as they strive to raise Esther, Aleida, and Madelyn to know and love God, and to serve God with their gifts. We give thanks for God’s love and grace demonstrated in baptism. We welcome Madelyn into our church family and promise walk alongside this family in faith and love regardless of where God sends them. We pray for peace and wisdom as they discern a path forward together as a family.
We welcome warmth and sunshine after a long and wet spring so far. We give thanks for a climate where we can grow vegetables and fruit so abundantly.
We are thankful to have heard from Rita & Geoff about the tremendous need in Guatemala, their faithful response, how God has led and blessed them, and their thankfulness for community/family and support. We give thanks for all of our missionaries and the Shalom they are bringing locally in Lincoln and Niagara Falls, and a bit further out in Kingston, but also in Cambodia (2 sites), Myanmar, Ukraine, and Guatemala. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
We were blessed to hear from Hibe & Zarah Said who shared how profoundly our support has shaped and transformed their family’s lives and expressed great thanks for Mountainview’s generosity and care. We are thankful for the opportunity to support more members of their family now again. We also give thanks that we could celebrate cooperation between local churches and being so close to our fundraising goals. We are thankful for open hearts and hands. May the Spirit inspire us to continue to give and be sacrificial in our sharing of time and gifts.
