As your Church Council and Board, these Leadership Updates are a means to improve upon and further our communication to each of you.

Thank you for your continued prayers and partnership as we serve Christ’s mission together.

Read these updates to see what your Elders and Deacons are celebrating and who they are ministering to in the life of our church family.

Board Updates:

Our Board reviewed and gave thanks to the many ministry teams that are flourishing within our congregation as we joyfully serve God with our different gifts.

We’re thankful for the finance team (FA$T) that has been re-established and is working with the Facilities Team on a detailed and clear five-year Capital Expenditure Plan. We are thankful that the Capital Campaign Pledges continue to flow in.

Our Board is also very appreciative of the work of the Facilities Team, who have been very active in the last number of months. Their work includes, but is not limited to: remodeling the library, replacing/updating the HVAC, repairing bathrooms, and coordinating the re-sealing of the parking lot. After reviewing the presented budget for a kitchen remodel from our Kitchen Ad-Hoc team, we recognize that FA$T must examine how and when this project can be funded over a five-year plan, and we recognize that congregational input is necessary to move forward on any renovation this substantial.

Furthermore, we are thankful for our organ committee that seeks input from every generation of our congregation from nearly every decade of life. We pray that a financially responsible and musically joyful solution to our organ’s repair will be presented.

Pastoral Ministry Team Update:

Each time we meet we provide updates on our Neighbourhoods and share both the joys we have as Elders being blessed by our visits within the congregation, and the challenges that we face as Elders serving our church.

The Organ Ad-hoc Committee has been doing great work investigating options, reviewing our excellent care of the organ thus far - and determining how we can move forward responsibly by involving stakeholders and this community. They have engaged with other congregations who have worked through this challenge already. This assembled group obviously deeply appreciates the organ and is seeking a fiscally and musically appropriate path forward with the plan to involve our leadership and community.

Deaconal Ministry Team Update:

Preparations have begun for the Seniors Christmas Luncheon held in early December. The Deacons look forward to hosting this annual event where all our 70 + members are invited to attend. E-vite invitations will be send out in early November.

The Deacons endeavor to use the financial gifts received for Benevolence in a wise and stewardly manner. Along with fulfilling immediate needs within our congregation, support is given to ministries in the Niagara region that have a positive impact in the communities where they serve. Examples would include the Tuesday Evening Meal Program in St. Catharines, The Bridge Breakfast Program in Niagara Falls, and a Lunch Program at the Upper Deck in Vineland. We thank you for your generous support of the Benevolence Fund.

The application to sponsor the Somalian family has been approved by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada. The timeline for this process is as follows. Within a year. representatives from IRCC will make a decision to grant them permanent residency. This includes an interview with the family at the Refugee Camp, doing medical clearances, and security background checks. If all goes according to plan, we can expect the 5 members of the Said family to arrive in the spring/summer of 2026. Sponsoring the resettlement of the Said family is a big undertaking and a significant amount of funds are needed to make this possible. If you are able, please give generously to support this endeavour. Donations can be labeled: Benevolence – Refugee Family Resettlement.

Joyfully in His Service,

Your Mountainview Church Board, Elders and Deacons
