Passage in Focus: Matthew 7:24-28

Opening

1.     The message on this passage gives nine ways to practice growing your faith.  Discuss how you are doing each of them.  Consider if you need to add or change something in each area.

a.     Seeing blessing in unexpected places.

b.    Loving difficult people

c.     Hanging out with God

d.    Forgiving

e.     Valuing what is lasting.

f.       Putting your worry aside

g.     Catching yourself judging and stopping it.

h.    Asking God’s Spirit to help you.

i.       Setting aside depending on your own power.

2.     Matthew writes that Jesus spoke with authority.  How do you know when someone speaks with authority?

3.     Can you share how something in the sermon on the mount has been authoritative in your life?
