What's Going On? Men's Ministry

Last ministry season, the men of Mountainview gathered to try out Men’s Ministry.  There was a sense among us that something should be happening for men, though without a strong sense of exactly what.  We gathered Saturday mornings about once a month and had discussions about ministry and about men and Bible passages.  We even had our local MP Dean Alison come in to speak with us.  The idea was that after trying a few things and soliciting feedback we might have a better idea what would work best.

This fall, Men’s Ministry started off with a barbeque.  At this event a conversation took place about the upcoming year.  The goal is to have a meeting on the fourth Saturday of every month.  The next one will be November 28 and after that January 23.  In spite of many conversations along the way about different time slots, I think the gathering has always been Saturday from 8:30 – 10 am and will continue to be at that time in the Fellowship Hall.

The goal is to get men connected and talking.  For November we will use Proverbs 1 & 2 as our guide.  Please read the passage beforehand and write down words, verses or images that stick out to you.  There is plenty of material there to connect with our lives.  And, since we hope there is healthy sharing, a confidentiality statement will be used to remind us to be careful with each other’s stories.

So men.  Come on out and participate.  And everyone.  Let people know this is happening and encourage the men around you to participate.  And pray that God will provide connection and growth.

The notes from September 26 barbeque discussion as well as the confidentiality statement are attached.  Moving forward, communication will happen by email to those who have shown interest and participated.
