Offering Prayers
As we walk through National Indigenous History month, as we hold a collection for the CRC’s Canadian Indigenous Ministry on Sunday, and as our denomination has made a commitment to walking the path of Truth and Reconciliation with our Indigenous neighbours, we pray for humility, curiosity, grace and justice on this path.
We pray for the safety and health of all those proximal to the Ebola outbreak. May those leading, serving, and supporting be given what they need and may the outbreak be contained from spreading further. May God have mercy on those suffering from Ebola or those directly impacted by its spread and symptoms.
We pray for our Cadets, our Youth and their leaders as they make final preparations for the International Camporee and SERVE in Alberta. You have a chance to be a PRAYER PARTNER to one of the 26 leaders or youth attending SERVE in Medicine Hat (see Slide). We also pray for SERVE Niagara as they prepare and are in search of Volunteers and Food Donations (see Newsletter). We pray for every person attending, and leading these two trips and for the people and organizations receiving services through SERVE. May God prepare hearts, minds and hands for the time ahead. May the Spirit meet all the young people involved where they are at; touching lives, changing hearts, and building relationships in community.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Gerry & Marguerite Termorshuizen, Tammy Ristow, Lydia Koomans, Roland & Cheryl Vangameren, Dina Reinders, Anne Schuringa, John & Henny Vanderkolk, Clarence Alkema, and Rina Van Tellingen. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
Camp Coordinators are working hard and have a request for buttons, twist caps with spouts and large boxes or pieces of cardboard. Pray for the complete Coordinator Team who begin work this week planning the last touches before the start of camp and gearing up for the entire staff team to come. They are the leaders for Activities & Bible Curriculum, Admin, LIT’s, Worship, Tech, and Camper Support. May each leader and LIT see every child they encounter with God’s eyes and may the Spirit’s work in the heart of each person attending camp this summer guide them on their “Kingdom Quest”.
We are thankful for fathers and father figures in our life who guide, mentor, encourage, love and support us with all their gifts and wisdom. In an ideal situation, they can mirror our Heavenly Father’s love for us. We lament where relationships with father’s are broken or bring pain and mourn with those who feel the loss of their fathers and with the fathers who feel the loss of their children on this day, while we celebrate the beautiful gift of fathers in our lives.
“We will be celebrating 65 years of marriage on June 23rd, 2026. We thank God for His many blessings in their married life, for His love and guidance throughout the past 65 years” Dick & Mary Vermeer
Shirley Bergshoeff has made the move from Evergreen to Shalom Manor. Everyone is thankful for her new home and Shirley is settling in well. Her new contact info is: Room 117-123 Bartlett Ave., Grimsby, L3M 4N5. May Shirley and her family continue to experience a smooth transition to her new home.
We give thanks for the glorious season of summer, which officially begins this weekend with the longest day of the year. We are thankful for the long days of sunlight, blooms, heat, singing of birds, activity of animals, working with the earth, plentiful outside acitivites, time away with friends and family, respite from routine, and long days. We see God’s creativity, care and faithfulness in every season and lift our hearts with thanks and praise for the beauty that surrounds us and the abundance that it provides.
We give thanks for the gifts and work of Sovann Neth serving with World Renew in Cambodia. He serves there as their country consultant promoting community change in these areas: income generation, agriculture, health sanitation, environment, peace-building & advocacy, and education.
