Offering Prayers
Rina Van Tellingen had hip surgery last week. The surgery went well and recovery so far has been smooth. Rina moved to WLMH (Room E11 3rd Floor) for rehab and rest as she has to remain off the hip for six weeks. Days are long, so please consider popping in for a visit. We pray for continued healing, strength, patience, occupation, and restoration for Rina.
The Countdown is on till SERVE and CAMPOREE!! We pray for our Cadets, our Youth and their leaders as they make final preparations for the International Camporee and SERVE in Alberta. You have a chance to be a PRAYER PARTNER to one of the 26 leaders or youth attending SERVE in Medicine Hat (see Slide). We also pray for SERVE Niagara as they prepare and are in search of Volunteers and Food Donations (see Newsletter). We pray for every person attending and leading these two trips and for the people and organizations receiving services through SERVE. May God prepare hearts, minds and hands for the time ahead. May the Spirit meet all the young people involved where they are at; touching lives, changing hearts, and building relationships in community.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Shirley Bergshoeff, Liz Van Ryn, Metha Van der Beek, Theresa Jongerden, Johanna Ubbens, Anna Geuze, Gerry & Marguerite Termorshuizen, and Sylvia Vellinga. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
Camp Coordinators have been doing final planning and preparing. We pray for peace and wisdom as they wrap that up. They are still seeking buttons and twist caps with spouts. Thank you for so many boxes!! All the camp staff join next week for training and kids/campers will be welcomed for a short “Holidays in July” camp session for Thursday and Friday. We pray for clarity in learning and teaching throughout training week. We give thanks for a smaller group of kids and shorter week so that new staff can adapt. We trust the Spirit will guide each person leading or attending camp this summer on their “Kingdom Quest”. May all that is shared, said, seen, felt, heard, taught, and done facilitate the flowing of the Holy Spirit and demonstrate God’s love.
Mountainview hosted four graduations over the past two weeks! (Next year it will be five). A big thanks to members of our A/V Team and custodian who have been busy assisting at these events and to the Worship Team who graciously accommodate these occasions. We celebrate all graduates. We pray for them as they move forward into new adventures. We pray that they will always seek God and know that He walks with them. We give thanks for all education and educators, but in particular our local Christian Schools. As teachers, Aids and Administrators wrap up for the year and beginning planning for the fall, we give thanks for their skill, gifts, and care for our kids and pray a blessing on their rest and their vision for the year ahead. May they continue to faithfully mentor, guide and teach our children to Grow in God. We give thanks to God for a beautiful, accessible, and welcoming facility that can host large community events and support local organizations while still supporting our many Ministries.
We give thanks for our country, Canada, a country of democracy, stunning beauty, peace and good governance, a place that is known worldwide for its peacekeeping, welcoming and friendliness and a country that was established with faith at its core. We have not always lived into that identity, and currently we live with division, broken systems and systemic problems, but we pray in hope that we will continue to strive to live into these ideals and into what God would call us to be as a nation …to celebrate what we are doing well and to work towards becoming better, to reconcile with some of our difficult history and the people affected, and to live into where God is working and moving in our country. We pray for our local, provincial and federal leaders for wisdom, vision and justice.
We give thanks for the work of the Bridge and Pastor Steve DeBoer. Bridging Community. Bridging Food Security. Bridging Hope. We give thanks for their breakfast program, Skills development, Volunteering and Food Recovery Program. We give thanks for the Shalom building palpable in their efforts and relationships. May God bless their work.
