Offering Prayers

The heat and humidity have been intense this week, with flash storms and long power outages reminding us how much we rely on electricity and technology. We pray that anyone sensitive or at risk in extreme heat, and those without secure shelter or access to essential resources, will find safety and have access to what they need during these severe weather events. May they have enough water and ways to keep cool. We also pray for the organizations helping those in need. We give thanks for their care and compassion, and we pray that all will continue working for justice, especially in the areas of affordable housing, clean water, healthy food at reasonable prices, and medical and mental health care.

We pray for the people of Venezuela, families who are grieving, injured or displaced persons, medical teams, rescue workers, relief organizations and leaders. May God give peace, strength, wisdom, grace in great hardship, and comfort. May God have mercy.

The Countdown is on till SERVE and CAMPOREE!! We pray for our Cadets, our Youth and their leaders as they make final preparations for the International Camporee and SERVE in Alberta. We also pray for SERVE Niagara as they prepare and are in search of Volunteers and Sleeping Mats (see Newsletter). We pray for every person attending and leading these trips/events and for the people and organizations receiving services through SERVE. May God prepare hearts, minds and hands for the time ahead. May the Spirit surprise us; touching lives with lasting impact, changing hearts, and building relationships in community.

Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of:  Rina VanTellingen, Shirley Bergshoeff, Lydia Koomans, Martha Luth, Evelyn Vander Meer, Louise Boele, Reinhard Mech, and Joyce Wheaton. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.

Giving Thanks

Thank you to all who signed up to be prayer partners! Please have everything in to George, Cheryl or the office by July 6th!

Prayers for our first full week of camp (Art Camp). We have 9 small groups and with our LIT's it totals 170 campers, plus our 35 staff! We are at capacity. Please pray for the artistic gifts, making beautiful creations and a strong team to help everyone have fun, feel loved, and be engaged. Please pray for the Holy Spirits presence. We trust the Spirit will guide each person leading or attending camp this summer on their “Kingdom Quest”. May all that is shared, said, seen, felt, heard, taught, and done facilitate the flowing of the Holy Spirit and demonstrate God’s love.

Greg & Petra (and siblings Tyce, Mariska and Poppy) are excited to announce the latest addition to their family, Simon Isaac Van Geest. He was born on June 30th. Mom and baby remain in the hospital and are looking forward to returning home soon.

We give thanks for a season of altered routines, respite from regular work, working the earth and enjoying its bounty, and enjoying God’s beautiful creation.

“I wanted to let you know that I am going through some significant life changes. I’ve moved to Texas (contact details to follow) gotten married and become a father to two lovely 4 yr old and 20 month old girls. I am very excited about this new chapter in my life.  I want to assure you that my work with Global Aid Network will continue in the same role. But now that I live in the United States, I will be under the roof of Campus Crusade for Christ, and they will then "lend" me back to our Abbotsford office for work.

A few things to note:

1.   More ministry support needed (US health insurance and conversion)
2.   Fund can continue through Power to Change
3.   Will be visiting Abbotsford and Ontario regularly
4.   Phone is the same

Thank you all for your faithful support of my ministry and for how you and your congregation are furthering the kingdom of Jesus. Blessings to you all.”

Tyler Couperus

We celebrate together with Tyler and his new family and pray a blessing on all of the transitions that are a part of his new chapter!
