Church Family - July 12th, 2026
Offering Prayers
Theresa Jongerden passed away on Tuesday. She and her family were ready for her to go home to her heavenly father at almost 96 years of age, but she will be dearly missed. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 12 @ 1:00pm and a Memorial Service will happen immediately following the visitation (2:00pm); both at Mountainview. We pray that God’s peace that passes understanding will surround and uphold the Jongerden family in their loss and that they will be able to remember her with joy.
We are saddened to hear that Cheryl Vangameren is facing a sudden and unexpected palliative journey with cancer. Please uphold Cheryl, Roland (who is in need of long-term care), and their family in your prayers during this difficult time.
We continue to pray for the people of Venezuela, families who are grieving, injured, waiting for answers, and displaced. We pray for medical teams, rescue workers, relief organizations and leaders responding with great urgency and care. May God give peace, strength, wisdom, grace in great hardship, and comfort. May God’s love be shared as the Venezuelan people begin a long journey towards recovery. Till July 14th any contributions through World Renew www.worldrenew.ca/venezuela-earthquake will be matched by the Canadian Government up to 2 million dollars.
Rina VanTellingen has been moved to the satellite hospital facility in Hamilton located on 150 King Street E. She's on the second floor in room 201. The satellite facility can be a difficult place to be because it's an old hotel that's been converted to a rehabilitative space with small hallways and very few communal spaces. We ask for your prayers that her spirits might be lifted and she would feel companioned by God as she recovers. We also ask that you consider visiting her if you have time.
Please join us in holding up in prayer those who manage daily burdens of one kind or another (chronic or acute illness, grief, mental health, loneliness, loss of abilities). We think specifically this week of: Gert & Hinke Draaistra, Lois Hanson, Connie & Henry Van Rooyen, Anna Spoelstra, Nell Wielhouwer, Peter Zwart, and Gerry & Marguerite Termorshuizen. May God give them each what they stand in need of. May God give wisdom and strength to those who walk alongside them. We also pray for those who are dealing with issues of which we are not aware.
Giving Thanks
For Sports Week we are praying for good weather and good sportsmanship based on encouraging one another and respecting the rules of the games. We also pray for good attitudes towards activities throughout the week and for the health of the staff and LITs as they enter into a new, and more physically demanding, camp week. Sports week tends to carry a fair bit of energy that needs harnessing/direction so please pray for that as well. We trust the Spirit will guide each person leading or attending camp this summer on their “Kingdom Quest”. May all that is shared, said, seen, felt, heard, taught, and done facilitate the flowing of the Holy Spirit and demonstrate God’s love.
“I would like to share that my sister Margaret Bruchmann (Heida) has passed away after a 3 year battle with cancer. Margaret is also an aunt to Patty Feddema. Thank you to my Coffee Break sisters for your prayers during these three years” Bonnie Buma.
Praying for God’s peace, presence and comfort to rest on Margaret’s family as they remember her life and legacy and mourn her loss.
Kamp Longview runs from July 15-22, and is the culmination of years of work and planning by countless people. The event is bringing over 1,300 men, boys and staff together from across North America, to a week of worship, devotions, games, activities, food and service. We pray for safety travelling and a blessing on their time together.
SERVE is here!! We pray for health and safe travels. We pray for every person attending and for the people/organizations receiving services through SERVE. May God prepare hearts, minds and hands for the time ahead. May the Spirit surprise us; touching lives with lasting impact, changing hearts, and building relationships in community.
We give thanks for our missionaries Kathleen & Colin Wassenaar with EMI in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. More recently, Colin is ‘trying his hand at’ preaching as he has felt a call into that part of ministry. He has shared two of his recent sermons for in their latest June Newsletter: Rookie Preacher and Biting Creatures. There is much more to celebrate and pray for. Check out their Update at the link above (also linked in Church Announcements).
Staff will be on vacation over the next month off and on. We pray for rest and restoration for each of them and their families as they take some time away from ministry. Over the next week while Karin is away, please contact Alice with any Admin concerns. Pastor Brady and his family are also vacationing over the next week. We pray a blessing on their time of rest as a family before a new journey begins in earnest.
